First, I wanted to say welcome and thank you to a bunch of new subscribers! All are welcome, and please continue to do so and recommend this quirky space that is The Declining Academic. I am really enjoying learning about the Substack community, so please make recommendations to me as well!
I write about all sorts of things, and one of them is poetry. So if you are wondering what the heck “Music Friday” means in this place, let’s just say it’s a weird project I started a bit ago (I like weird projects) where I take canonical poems and set them to music, often electronic/dance music.
The image attached to each song is generated by Midjourney (an AI image generator, another interest of mine, as you may have seen in other posts), where I use the poem’s full text as the prompt.
The voices you hear on the songs are AI generated by muph.ai, and I make the music myself in GarageBand. Why do I use an AI voice? Trust me, hearing me sing is bad for your health and for the environment.
So, here is one of my favorites—E.E. Cummings’s “anyone lived in a pretty how town.” Enjoy!
